The National Student Scientific Writing Competition on Research and Development Competition (RnDC) 2020 was held by the Student Activity Unit on Research and Reasoning Community of Crystal Research, Faculty of Economics, Yogyakarta State University on October 9-11, 2020. The RnDC has the theme “Actualization of Youth Roles in Optimizing Local Resources. Through Various Sectors as a Post-Covid-19 Economic Recovery Strategy. ”The competition consists of 2 stages starting from full paper selection and presentation. The presentation stage held on-line was attended by 10 finalists from the University of Indonesia, Bandung Institute of Technology, Sepuluh November Institute of Technology, Diponegoro University, Jember University, Yogyakarta State University, Brawijaya University, and Gadjah Mada University.

The team from Gadjah Mada University consisting of Ragil Puspita Megaranu (Fish Product Technology 2017), Asthony Purwanda Febriawan (Aquaculture 2017), and Rafelinta Daradwinta (Biology 2017) under the guidance of UGM Fisheries Lecturer, Ir. Sukardi, M.P. presented a potential innovation system “Integrated Geo Salter: Salt Production Intensification System based on Ground to Air Heating System”. The IGS concept is the result of the integration of the GAHT system, prism and tunnel technology to support the optimization of salt production with optimal quality and quantity. This innovation is a potential solution to the problem of the salt system in Indonesia, which is currently limited to using conventional technology that is affected by the weather. This innovative idea won first place in the DIY governor trophy in the 2020 RnDC competition, the Sepuluh November Institute of Technology as the second winner and Yogyakarta State University as the third winner.
